Anthony Henry Smith, Tenor
Anthony is understudying “Major-General Stanley” in this year's production of The Pirates of Penzance.
Anthony began performing in G & S as a student of St Aloysius’ College, Milson’s Point. He encompassed roles such as "Lady Saphir" (Patience), "Marco" (Gondoliers) and "Sir Joseph Porter" (Pinafore).
In 1987 he added another role to the list. He joined the Savoy Arts Co (G & S Opera Sydney) after answering an ad in the Sydney Morning Herald: “desperately seeking a Nanki-Poo.” Mikado 2019 marked a fitting return after many years.
Other roles include: "Albert Peterson" (Bye, Bye Birdie); "Joseph" (Joseph/Dreamcoat); Musical Director (Godspell); Composer/Lyricist/Musical Director (Possum Magic; DOGS, both for School Groups).

The Savoy Arts Company Incorporated has been producing shows since 1985, specialising in the operettas of William Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. To better reflect its primary artistic objective, commencing from 2014, the company will be performing as Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Sydney. Our performing group has provided excellent training in all aspects of stagecraft for performers who have made a career in opera and musical theatre. The Ensemble style of our productions not only provides the chorus with experience in singing with an orchestra, but also provides ample opportunity to learn and develop skills in characterisation and stagecraft.
