Holly Champion, SopranoHolly is featured as “Isabel” in this year's production of The Pirates of Penzance, and is also the understudy for the role of "Kate".
Holly is a Sydney-based researcher, writer, performer, administrator and teacher of music, theatre and opera. Her love of the stage showed early; as a baby, she would bite pieces of toast into puppet shapes and make them engage in dialogue. She has been performing as an actor, singer and pianist in film, TV and music-theatre ever since. In 2002 and 2006 Holly completed student exchanges to Austria and Germany. She graduated from UNSW with the Media Film & Theatre Award and the University Medal in 2008, with a thesis on performances of Wagner’s "Das Rheingold". Holly then undertook funded PhD research into opera productions of Henry Purcell’s "Dido and Aeneas"; graduating last year. Having recently commenced as Executive Assistant at Opera Australia, Holly also produces and advises at Shh Centre 4 Hybrid Arts, Parramatta and young artists' company Operantics. Holly continues to enjoy performing in her spare time, and is studying voice with Spencer Darby. |

About UsThe Savoy Arts Company Incorporated has been producing shows since 1985, specialising in the operettas of William Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. To better reflect its primary artistic objective, commencing from 2014, the company will be performing as Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Sydney. Our performing group has provided excellent training in all aspects of stagecraft for performers who have made a career in opera and musical theatre. The Ensemble style of our productions not only provides the chorus with experience in singing with an orchestra, but also provides ample opportunity to learn and develop skills in characterisation and stagecraft.
