Linda Peach, SopranoLinda is the understudy of the role “Ruth” in this year's production of The Pirates of Penzance.
Linda Peach has around 30 years of diverse singing experience. Based in Hong Kong and the UK for 12 of those years, she studied with Margreta Elkins and Michael Rippon at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and sang with the Hong Kong Arts Festival Opera Chorus, the Hong Kong Opera and the Hong Kong Singers for several seasons, taking a variety of lead roles and solo parts in operettas, oratorios and concerts. Among other roles, she has sung Kate in Kiss Me Kate, Josephine in Pinafore, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Gianetta, Casilda and Fiametta in The Gondoliers (not all at the same time); Phyllis in Iolanthe, Venus in Orpheus in the Underworld, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Frasquita in Carmen, Nanetta in Falstaff, Adele in Die Fledermaus, and Marguerite in Faust. As an oratorio soloist, she has sung Bach’s St John and St Matthew Passions and the Christmas Oratorio, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and a variety of Bach cantatas. She was also principal soprano with Hong Kong’s premier dinner cabaret troupe, Broadway Express, for three years - back in the day when wearing a leotard in public didn’t faze her at all – and recorded with the Radio Television Hong Kong Singers among other ad hoc voice work. After returning to Australia in 2001, she was a concert soloist around Brisbane for several years and began to concentrate on choral work from about 2007 while studying for her PhD in Psychology. Linda currently sings with the busy and wonderful Sydney Philharmonia Symphony Chorus and has voice lessons with Jo Burton and an occasional session with Emma Matthews. |

About UsThe Savoy Arts Company Incorporated has been producing shows since 1985, specialising in the operettas of William Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. To better reflect its primary artistic objective, commencing from 2014, the company will be performing as Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Sydney. Our performing group has provided excellent training in all aspects of stagecraft for performers who have made a career in opera and musical theatre. The Ensemble style of our productions not only provides the chorus with experience in singing with an orchestra, but also provides ample opportunity to learn and develop skills in characterisation and stagecraft.
