Mackenzie Lawrence, SopranoMackenzie is the swing/understudy for the roles of “Mabel/Edith/Kate/Isabel” in this year's production of Pirates of Penzance. She will be performing in the principal role of Edith in the North Sydney show on 8/10/22 at 2pm.
Mackenzie moved to Sydney this year from Nowra on the South Coast to study a Bachelor of Performance (Classical Voice) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she is tutored by Donna Balson. While she is just commencing her musical journey, she has been constantly developing her vocal and performance skills since early childhood. Mackenzie studied ballet from an early age and picked up contemporary, tap and jazz classes throughout high school. She has acted in numerous theatre productions with Albatross Musical Theatre Company, and for her school, Nowra Anglican College, with her first role being "Mabel" in Pirates of Penzance in Year 7. She also spent three years performing with the Sydney Children’s Choir- Gondwana Choirs. Classical singing has always been her passion, which she has worked on from a young age with her singing teacher, Sarah Turvey. Having settled into Sydney, Mackenzie is very excited to be able to perform for the first time with the Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Sydney! |

About UsThe Savoy Arts Company Incorporated has been producing shows since 1985, specialising in the operettas of William Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. To better reflect its primary artistic objective, commencing from 2014, the company will be performing as Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Sydney. Our performing group has provided excellent training in all aspects of stagecraft for performers who have made a career in opera and musical theatre. The Ensemble style of our productions not only provides the chorus with experience in singing with an orchestra, but also provides ample opportunity to learn and develop skills in characterisation and stagecraft.
