Oskar Loofs, Baritone
Oskar is featured as the "Sergeant of Police" in this year's production of The Pirates of Penzance.
Oskar is currently in his second year of a double degree at the University of Sydney. He is studying a Bachelor of Music - Performance (Classical Voice) with Dr Rowena Cowley at the Conservatorium of Music, and a Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Politics) on the main campus. Oskar was a recipient of the merit-based Greenburg-Gurney-Jensen Fund 2 scholarship in 2021.
During high school, Oskar played percussion and violin, adding formal singing lessons in 2018. He completed his Higher School Certificate in 2020, receiving ENCORE and ONSTAGE nominations for Drama and Music 2/Extension respectively, and placing third in NSW for Drama. To continue violin, Oskar is currently working towards completing his Lmus.
While this is Oskar's first performance with GSOS, he has had the opportunity to perform in a number of productions during high school. Notable roles include "Fagin" in Oliver! (2019), "Field Marshal Haig" in Oh, What a Lovely War (2019), "The Pirate King" in The Pirates of Penzance (2018) and "William Morris Barfee" in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2017). Later this year, he will perform as "Moritz" in the premier production of Max and Moritz with Musgrove Opera.

The Savoy Arts Company Incorporated has been producing shows since 1985, specialising in the operettas of William Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. To better reflect its primary artistic objective, commencing from 2014, the company will be performing as Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Sydney. Our performing group has provided excellent training in all aspects of stagecraft for performers who have made a career in opera and musical theatre. The Ensemble style of our productions not only provides the chorus with experience in singing with an orchestra, but also provides ample opportunity to learn and develop skills in characterisation and stagecraft.
