Stephanie Jennifer Poropat, SopranoStephanie is featured as “Casilda” in The Gondoliers.
Stephanie began her career as a contemporary vocalist, performing in ensembles that ranged from jazz ensembles to rock bands, whilst also performing as a soloist in concerts, showcases, eisteddfods, festivals and talent quests. Having a wide vocal range and thorough knowledge of the Spanish language and culture in addition to some Italian, Stephanie began to explore singing in the classical bel-canto style.Stephanie has since acquired a Masters of Teaching (Music) and a Bachelor of Music - both from the University of New South Wales - as well as an Associate Diploma in Music (Voice). Stephanie is also an experienced cantor and chorister having sung at St Patrick’s Cathedral (ongoing), St Mary’s Cathedral, St James King St Choir, the Bergundian Consort and the Collegium Musicum Choir, to name a few. This is only her third operetta, having previously performed the role of “Mabel” in The Pirates of Penzance, and “Valencienne” in The Merry Widow. |

About UsThe Savoy Arts Company Incorporated has been producing shows since 1985, specialising in the operettas of William Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. To better reflect its primary artistic objective, commencing from 2014, the company will be performing as Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Sydney. Our performing group has provided excellent training in all aspects of stagecraft for performers who have made a career in opera and musical theatre. The Ensemble style of our productions not only provides the chorus with experience in singing with an orchestra, but also provides ample opportunity to learn and develop skills in characterisation and stagecraft.
